How work-based routes work
Work-based qualifications, often still called NVQs, are assessed on evidence of competence in the workplace: observation by an assessor, witness statements and a portfolio, rather than mainly by written exams.
Who they suit
Because assessment happens at work, these routes suit people who already work in a clinical setting where they can take blood under supervision.
Before you enrol
Qualification titles, content and availability change. Before you pay, look the qualification up on Ofqual's Register of Regulated Qualifications (for England) and ask the provider for the current specification.
